10 Stupid Mistakes Most MMA Fighters Ignore

in Training

Mixed martial arts is an excellent way to get into great shape, learn self defense skills, increase confidence, and more. If you are interested in getting into mixed martial arts competition, there are a lot of things that you are going to have to learn. Unfortunately, too many fighters make mistakes that are completely unnecessary, and often stupid. Here are the ten most stupid mistakes that most mixed martial arts fighters ignore:

  1. Taking Steroids – This is not the way to get to the top. Sure, taking these drugs will give you more self-esteem because you are able to build more muscles, but it is not a healthy way to do it. In fact, it can be very dangerous, even life-threatening.
  1. Ignoring Instructors – Some fighters get over-confident, and end up not listening to their instructors, thinking they know it all. No matter how long you have trained, there are always new things you can learn.
  1. Not Training Enough – Many fighters do not train and practice nearly as much as they should before competition. You must train hard to be at the top of your game.
  1. Concentrating on One Thing – A lot of people concentrate on one area of their training, and not concentrate enough on the rest. If you want to be a great mma fighter, you need to work on all of your skills.
  1. Too Much Training – Many fighters, especially beginners, think that the more training the better. Muscles need time to rest after workouts, so it is important to give them the rest they need.
  1. Not Doing Enough Strength Training – To win, you need to be strong, and to be strong, you need to be doing plenty of strength training.
  1. Too Much Exercise – There are some exercises that fighters do too much of, including jogging, which can actually make you stiff and sore, and unable to perform at your best.
  1. Not Eating Right – You need to know what foods to eat, and when to eat them if you want to be at your peak performance for fighting.
  1. Not Drinking Enough Water – You need to stay hydrated, especially while you are working out and competing. Make sure that you are always drinking plenty of water, before and during fights.
  1. Fighting in the Wrong Weight Class – If you are competing, make sure that you are competing in the proper weight class in order to keep things on an even level. Many fighters try to prove something by fighting larger opponents, which rarely turns out well.

Many of these mistakes may seem like common sense, but they are mistakes that are frequently made. To learn how not to make these mistakes, and get the best mma training in Woodbridge, Ontario, visit the Takedown MMA and Fitness website at www.takedownmma.ca/brazilian_jiu_jitsu.html.
